Get to know the GRK 2948 About Us

The Research Training Group “Mixed Ionic-Electronic Transport” (GRK 2948) is a structured doctoral programme at Heidelberg University and the University of Stuttgart.

We explore how ions and electrons interact with each other in organic, hybrid and nanoscale materials with the aim to create mixed ionic-electronic conductors with new functionalities for sensors, soft actuators and bioelectronics. We investigate the fundamental nature of ionic-electronic interactions in relation to electronic, optical and mechanical with a wide range of modern experimental techniques on different time and length scales, which are accompanied by modelling from the atomistic level to the macroscale.

In addition to exciting research topics, the GRK 2948 also provides additional training in science communication, transferable skills and teaching to prepare all doctoral researcher for successful careers in research and industry.
